If you want to go on a cruise as a convicted felon there are some restrictions you have to follow. To better help you determine what those restrictions are, I’ve put together this list of frequently asked questions regarding felons being able to go on a cruise.

Can a Felon Go On a Cruise?
Yes. In most cases, a felon can go on a cruise but there may be specific restrictions from the cruise line or the countries that will be visited.
Australia, Canada, and The UK are the most notable countries with restrictions for felons. For more information, I’ve put together a complete list of countries a convicted felon can & can not travel to.
Passports for Felons
If going on an international cruise, a passport is likely required and there are additional passport restrictions for felons to follow.
The main restrictions for felons when getting a passport is that you can’t be currently on parole or probation and there can’t be any pending felony charges.
Even if you’re not a felon, there are other reasons you can be disqualified from getting a passport including owing child support or back taxes.
Can a Convicted Felon Go On a Carnival Cruise?
Yes, a convicted felon can go on a Carnival cruise as long as the specific cruise doesn’t go to a country that restricts felons. Carnival has no specific rules when it comes to prohibiting or restricting criminals but they have the right to refuse service to anyone and they may ban you from future cruises if you cause trouble while on a cruise.
Currently, the only country that Carnival Cruise Lines operate in that has restrictions for criminals is Canada.
Can a Felon Go On a Royal Caribbean Cruise?
Yes, a felon can go on a Royal Caribbean cruise as long as the specific cruise doesn’t go to a country that restricts entry to felons.
Royal Caribbean does not state any restrictions for passengers with a criminal history however they do have the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason and they have been known to run random background checks for passengers.
Can a Felon Go On a Disney Cruise?
Maybe. A Felon can go on a Disney Cruise if they are able to pass a background check. Disney Cruise does not make public what crimes might disqualify you from passage on their cruise ships. They simply state: “Disney Cruise Line reserves the right to refuse passage to Guests with criminal backgrounds.”
Can a Felon Go On an Cruise to Alaska?
Yes, a felon can go on a cruise to Alaska as long as the cruise ship does not stop in Canada and they aren’t currently out on bail, parole, or probation.
Can a Felon Go On a Cruise to Mexico?
Yes, a felon can go on a cruise to Mexico as long as there aren’t any other stops in countries with restrictions. Mexico has no visa requirements and will not run a background check on you when you enter, a passport is sufficient.
Can a Felon Go On a Cruise to Canada?
Canada is strict when it comes to allowing criminals in and will refuse entry to almost anyone with convictions including any felonies, DUI, DWI, reckless driving, negligent driving, misdemeanor drug possession, shoplifting, and theft charges.
Can a Felon Go On a Cruise to the Bahamas?
Yes, a felon can go on a cruise to the Bahamas as long as there aren’t any other stops in countries with restrictions for felons. The Bahamas doesn’t have any visa requirements and they don’t run a background check on you when you enter, a passport is good enough for entry.
