Packing List for Mexico Resorts: 31+ Must Haves
Are you packing for a trip to a Mexican resort? If so, you’ll want to make sure you bring everything you need! This packing list of 27+ items will help you make sure you don’t forget anything important. From swimsuits and sunscreen to insect repellent and snacks, we’ve got you covered!
1. Swimsuit
Your swimsuit is probably the most important item on this packing list! Make sure you pack at least one swimsuit, but we recommend packing two or three so you have plenty of options.
2. Cell Phone w/ Service
If you’re traveling from the United States, you’ll need to make sure your cell phone has international roaming service. This can be expensive, so we recommend getting a travel SIM card or renting a phone when you arrive in Mexico.
3. Insect Repellent
No one wants to deal with bugs while they’re on vacation, so make sure to pack insect repellent. We recommend packing both a spray and lotion so you’re covered no matter what.
4. Snacks
All-inclusive resorts usually have great food options, but sometimes you just need a quick snack. Pack some of your favorite snacks to have on hand in case you get hungry between meals.
5. Beach Towel
A beach towel is essential for any trip to a Mexico resort. Make sure to pack one (or two!) so you can dry off after a swim or lounge by the pool.
6. Camera
You’ll want to document all your amazing vacation memories, so don’t forget to pack a camera! Whether you use your phone or a separate camera, make sure you have something to capture all the fun you’re going to have.
7. Hat
A hat is a great way to protect your face from the sun. We recommend packing a wide-brimmed sun hat or a baseball cap to keep your head and face shielded from the sun.
8. Sunglasses
Sunglasses are another must-have for any trip to a sunny destination. Make sure to pack a pair (or two!) so you can enjoy the beautiful views without squinting.
9. Cover-Up
A cover-up is essential for any trip to a Mexico resort. Whether you want to wear it over your swimsuit or just use it as a light layer, make sure you have one packed.
10. Dressy Clothes
While most of your time at a Mexico resort will be spent in casual clothes, you may want to pack one or two nicer outfits for dinner or drinks at the resort’s bar or nightclub.
11. Sandals
You’ll want to leave your heavy shoes at home and pack sandals instead! We recommend packing a couple pairs of sandals so you have options for different activities.
12. Flip-Flops
In addition to regular sandals, make sure to pack a pair of flip-flops. They’re perfect for the beach or pool and can also be worn around the resort if you don’t want to wear your nicer sandals.
13. Sneakers
You may not think you need sneakers on a trip to a resort, but they can come in handy if you want to go for a walk or run on the beach. Pack a pair of lightweight sneakers that won’t take up too much space in your suitcase.
14. Laundry Bag
A laundry bag is essential for any trip where you’ll be doing laundry. Pack a small one to keep your dirty clothes separate from your clean clothes.
15. Beach Bag
A beach bag is another essential for any trip to a Mexico resort. Make sure to pack a large bag that can fit all your beach necessities like sunscreen, snacks, and a towel.
16. Passport
If you’re traveling from outside of Mexico, don’t forget to pack your passport! You won’t be able to enter the country without it.
17. Plane Tickets
In addition to your passport, make sure you have your plane tickets packed and ready to go. Keep them in a safe place so you don’t lose them before your trip.
18. Money
You’ll need money for things like souvenirs, tips, and extra food or drinks. We recommend packing both cash and cards so you have options.
19. Credit Cards
Packing credit cards can be helpful in case you want to make any big purchases or if you run into any emergencies. Make sure to pack at least one major credit card.
20. ID
In addition to your passport and credit cards, don’t forget to pack some form of ID, especially if you plan on going to one of Cancun’s Casinos. This could be your driver’s license or a state ID card.
21. Travel Guide
A travel guide can be helpful in planning your trip and figuring out what to do once you arrive at your destination. We recommend packing a travel guide for Mexico so you can make the most of your trip.
22. Map
A map is another helpful tool for any trip. A map of Mexico can help you plan your travels and figure out where you want to go.
23. Journal
A journal is a great way to document your trip and keep all your memories in one place. Make sure to pack a journal and some pens so you can write down everything you do and see on your vacation.
24. Pen
You’ll need a pen to write in your journal and to fill out any forms you may come across while traveling. Pack at least one pen so you’re prepared.
25. Itinerary
An itinerary can be helpful in planning your trip and making sure you don’t miss anything important. We recommend packing an itinerary for your trip to Mexico so you can make the most of your vacation.
26. Luggage
Of course, you’ll need luggage to pack all your things! We recommend packing a suitcase that’s big enough to fit everything but not too big or heavy so it’s easy to carry.
27. Backpack
A backpack is also a good option for packing your things. It can be helpful if you want to keep your hands free or if you’re planning on doing any hiking or other activities while you’re at the resort.
28. Clothes
Now for the fun part – packing your clothes! We recommend packing light, airy clothes that are comfortable and easy to wash.
29. Towel
In addition to your swimsuit, don’t forget to pack a towel. A beach towel is perfect for drying off after a dip in the pool or ocean.
30. Water Bottle
Make sure to pack a reusable water bottle so you can stay hydrated while you’re at the resort. The weather in Mexico can be hot, so it’s important to drink plenty of water.
31. Sunscreen
Last but not least, don’t forget the sunscreen! We recommend packing a large bottle of SPF 50 sunscreen so you can stay safe in the sun.
Bonus: Travel Insurance
While not technically packing, we also recommend getting travel insurance for your trip. This can help you if you lose your luggage, get sick, or have any other problems while you’re away from home.
