Can You Bring a Blanket on a Plane? Carry On Stipulations
Flying can be cold and uncomfortable. But can you bring a blanket on a plane? The answer may surprise you. Let’s take a look at what the TSA has to say about bringing blankets through airport security.
Can You Bring a Blanket on a Plane?
Yes. According to the TSA, you are allowed to bring a blanket on a plane as long as it is within the “carry-on” guidelines of your airline. Most of the time, this means that your blanket must fit in your carry-on bag or personal item and it must be placed in the plastic bin for inspection by TSA agents.
Some people have had good luck with holding or wearing it like a scarf or pashmina. The only risk with this approach is you could be asked to place it in your bag, especially during takeoff. If it doesn’t fit, you could be asked to check it or leave it behind. It’s best to have a small blanket that can be packed away if necessary.
Can You Bring a Weighted Blanket on a Plane?
Yes. You are allowed to bring a weighted blanket on a plane as long as it meets the same guidelines as a regular blanket. The blanket must be small enough to fit in your carry-on bag and it must go through the TSA security checkpoint.
Can You Bring an Electric Heated Blanket on a Plane?
Yes. You are able to bring an electric heated blanket on board as long it abides by the same restrictions as a regular blanket. The only restrictions are that it must be small enough to fit in your carry-on and pass through the TSA security checkpoint.
Airline Provided Blankets
Many airlines will provide blankets for passengers upon request and it might be a better option for you to ask for one. However, these blankets are not always clean, so if you have any concerns about germs or bacteria, it’s best to bring your own blanket from home.
